Visual Research

I searched for inspiring visuals from other outdoor brands, other anniversary logos, and other imagery.

Initial Ideation

My supervisor chose a few logos from the visual research stage that best fit the project direction, and I created Ideas with the copy options.

Logo Exploration

From the initial ideation, my supervisor chose a few ideas for me to continue exploring. I tried different shapes, font weights, and layouts for each idea.

Color exploration

My supervisor chose a few ideas, and I continued to explore the logos, but this time with color! I used the NOLS brand colors: Mud, Ocean, Rock, and Sun.

Almost there...

From the color explorations, my supervisor narrowed down the ideas into two categories: sunrise and climbing peaks.

A Final mockup

This is one of the final mockups I created for the pitch deck to shareholders.

I was entrusted with a hefty project during my first few weeks at NOLS: designing a celebration logo for NOLS's 60th anniversary in 2025! This project was challenging, fun, and satisfying to complete.

This logo is to be used on web/social content, select merchandise, and some print projects. The target audience is mainly those who are NOLS alumni and who are already familiar with NOLS.
